The countdown for the release of Honda Jazz has begun with much awaited launch of the car to take place  shortly. Honda Jazz The car is in fact the most awaited car of the year. The journey of the first generation Jazz started in 2001 with its debut launch in Japan. The car is now being sold in more than 115 countries across the Globe. The first generation Jazz set a benchmark by achieving cumulative sales of more than 2 million units. The truly acclaimed and the stunning performer Honda Jazz , in its Second generation avatar, is all set to hit the Indian Roads in early June 2009.

Honda India is planning to launch Jazz in India in a price range starting from Rs. 4.5 Lakhs to Rs. 6 Lakhs for the top model. In this segment Hyundai & Skoda are already selling their big hatchbacks – i20 & Fabia respectively.
The Honda Jazz is more spacious than other premium hatchbacks, and has safety features like ABS, Honda’s G-CON technology, and airbags to further enahance the sale.
“Jazz will have all the features found in a premium large car. Hatchback customers feel that these cars lack legroom and headroom space which we have addressed in Jazz.
“The car has been  designed with a special engine for India to optimize fuel efficiency and power, which delayed the launch by one year. Jazz also comes strapped with a toughened suspension to meet stiff roads conditions in India.
Honda Jazz will be launched on the Honda City platform also featuring V-Tech technology for high fuel efficiency. The Honda Jazz will also be eligible for the 8% excise duty discount under the definition for government’s small car segment.
“The car makers will try to pass the benefit of lower excise duty on Jazz, but 30% of its components are imported and the weak rupee may lead to a higher price. The Honda Jazz will be manufactured at Honda’s mother plant in Greater Noida, whose capacity has been increased to 1 lakh units per annum.
The Honda Jazz is avaiable in the international market in three variants, the Honda Jazz GLi, VTi, and the Jazz Vti-S. Honda will allow its customers a certain level of customization including navigation system, in-car entertainment, sporty tyres and other gizmos at the dealer level.
Initialy, Honda Jazz will be  launched with manual transmission, followed by an automatic transmission version in the tiems to come. The diesel version of Honda Jazz will also be launched by2011.Going by the current trend amongst premium hatches, the Jazz will be competing directly with the Skoda Fabia, the yet-to-be-launched Fiat Grande Punto and the Hyundai i20. Honda had declared some time ago that from now on, all Honda cars in India will be powered by VTEC engines. Going by this statement, the new 1.2l engine will be something worth waiting for.
The advantage of the i-VTEC engine is that, it regulates the opening of air-fuel intake valves and exhaust valves in accordance with engine speeds. By regulating valve opening to match engine speed, the engine adjusts its characteristics to deliver both superior power and low fuel consumption.
Everyone is eagerly looking forward to the inaugural ceremony of Honda Jazz and hoping for its success on the Indian roads.
