Safety is important in all factors of life and particularly when it comes to cars. That being said, one can argue that we’ve gone too far in certain areas. The bizarre recall of certain 2010 Toyota Corollas is a classic example.
The Toyota Corolla in an iconic Toyota. The model has been offered for what seems like a few million years. Although redesigned from time to time, the car is not exactly flashy. What it is is a Toyota – solid and reliable. Well, you might think a bit differently after hearing in the media that the 2010 Corolla is undergoing a recall. An official recall notice means there is something clearly wrong with a part of the car.
So, what is wrong with the 2010 Corolla? The brakes going bad? The transmission? Gas tank exploding? No, these would be real problems. The recall of the 2010 Toyota Corolla is being issued because the airbag warning label on the visor can fall off on occasion. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with the airbag. We are talking about the label on the visor. This is the equivalent of having your mattress recalled because that annoying warning tag might fall off!
Don’t get me wrong. I am all for safety, but come on! This is ridiculous. The possibility of the label falling off is hardly the end of the world and there is a certain thought that perhaps you don’t need that label since airbags deploy automatically! So, what is the fix? Well, you are supposed to take your Corolla in and have it looked at. Toyota will replace the visor for free if there is an issue.
The Toyota Corolla is one of the iconic models for Toyota. If the worst thing that happens is your airbag warning label might peal off, then you can rest assured the car you are driving is very solid.
